Answer: No

Q
Do i need a race licence to get series points?
A YES

Q
Can i join at the my first race?
A Yes - you can joint on the day.

Membership & Race Licence:
All riders (except Novice) will have to be members of British Cycling and hold a racing licence. Membership forms can be obtained from www.britishcycling.org.uk under index to Website and membership. click here

No riders will be allowed to race in the series categories without a race licence, but there is an open “Novice” categories.
Novice will be classed as riders new to MTB, but it is up to you. If you feel confident, then ride within the appropriate age category.

Format:
The three Moto format will be in place at all events.
All events that have Semi-finals will also have a B Final and A final.
So positions 1 through to 8 will be decided on a final race.
A minimum of 4 riders will make a race. If there are less than 4, then the riders will be mixed with the nearest appropriate ability/age class. If there are only 4 riders in a class, the results will be decided over 4 Motos. Equal points over 4 Motos will mean that the 4th Moto will have greater weight. If there are limited female riders, then a 14+ payback will be used for either single events or the whole series.

5-12 riders will go straight into a 4 person final after 3 Motos.
13-24 riders will have semi-finals. This means that there will be a B final and A final.
25+ riders will have quarterfinals, semi-finals, then into B & A finals.

The electronic software is in place, enabling every Moto to be different. This means that, draw a tough Moto in round one, then rounds two and three might not be so hard.

Rules:
Wheel Sizes: There has been much debate over which wheel size is better for 4X, but different courses will favor different set ups. Wheels must be either 24” or 26” or a mixture of both.

Brakes: The front brake run has been relaxed, but you must have a rear working brake

Helmets: must conform to BS standards, so this counts out most of the potty helmets. Your helmet doesn’t have to cover your ears, but it must conform to standards to ensure we meet the requirements of the insurance. This is for insurance purposes and must be adhered to.

Series Points: Points for the series will be based on the best 4 results from 6 rounds, but riders can compete in as many or as few rounds as you like and still gain series points. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 in each category at the end of the series.

Prizes: There will be an elite purse at all events, Trophies for top 3 and some prizes.
